I am in the market for a small, relatively luxurious SUV. I was excited to have the Jeep Compass recommended to me as a possible candidate, because I wasn't aware that it existed. CVT!! Just like my Suzuki Burgman 650 Executive! The last time I drove a Jeep, it was a Liberty and it did not have the trim or feel that I was looking for.

As to the Compass - the price was appealing for the features (and there were MANY) - about 10K less than other vehicles I was considering. The salesperson was pleasant, they had the color I wanted and most of the features I was looking for.

For the interior - it had a nice configuration, but the steering wheel had a slightly smaller diameter than I am used to. The info on the dash was a little low - even though I tilted the wheel, it was still a bit hard to easily see all the info. It has some nice nooks and crannies for gear - like my purse. The leather smelled good but the seats were not particularly comfortable. Just there.

I like the location of the passenger door handle. It gave the vehicle a cleaner look. The reclining rear seats were nice too. Plenty of room.

Now as to the ride. I sat a little lower than in my RAV 4, but still felt as though I could see what I wanted. It felt secure on turns and I believe the turning radius is smaller than for my RAV. I could feel the road, but it was a pretty quiet ride, after turning off the blasting AC, which was not quiet. When I had to accelerate rapidly, it seemed a bit balky, but maybe part of that is getting used to the CVT, plus I had ridden in on my motorcycle, which is very quick.

Overall it was nice, but is still not quite the level of luxury I am looking for. I'll be trying an Acura RDX and BMW X3 next - I hope they have the "cush" factor the Compass lacked.

The compass isnt for everyone  Grin  Jeeps weren't originally meant as luxury vehicles, but options will be on par with the rest of them some day.  Wink
