I was at a light at 3 in the morning when a riced out civic came up next to me. He punched it off the line, I tried to keep up but the CVT is too slow to respond to my need for speed. But since he sounded like a wind up car with an exhaust and 130 hp engine a cop took notice of him instead of me I figure he was going 45-50 in a 35 zone. I let off when I got to 35ish because he had already clearly smoked me.

That high pitch that comes out of a ricer with an exhaust gets the attention of the police at lot more than the deep throaty exhaust of a real engine.

Ain't that the truth. The 5-0 around me just look for riced out cars and then pull them over for whatever reason they want. It doesn't matter what the guy did either, they almost always make him get out and do the DUI walk in a straight line tests.

While I generally dislike all the ricer cars out my way too I don't like the idea of cops profiling to harass people.

Cops do that kind of thing all the time. They don't just pull over people at random for speeding, most of the time that's just the excuse they use. They try to pull people over that they think will lead to a bigger arrest and then at worst only give out a ticket.

I don't know about getting more than just a ticket out of a stop, but I do know they usually pull over the same kinds of idiots on the road where I am.

I don't mind that they pull over people that look like idiots, because most of the time they are.

Ain't that the truth. Many of them ride my butt when there's no other traffic around. I think being an ass is just built into their genes.

Some times I think about installing some hellas pointed backwards just so that I can shine them on people that ride my ass. But with my luck I know that I'd end up doing that to some unmarked police car and they'd pull me over and write me up with everything they could.

Is that even illegal? Even if it was you could just tell the officer that you didn't realize that they were on, they're only for lighting up the bed real well at night

Even if it isn't illegal they'll throw the book and then some at you. There's a lot of different things they can make up that you have no way of proving them wrong like not wearing your seatbelt.

I've never heard of cops doing that, that's pretty dang shady. I'd get their badge number and report them.

You need to read the internets more Just about every other day there's a story about some cop tasering someone for not speaking or a video of their dash cams saying how they'll make up some charges if the person doesn't do what they say. Most of the cops out there are good guys, but the bad ones get all the press - and there's a lot of press.

Like squat said, not all cops are assh*les. I have had a few stops with them and I find that if you just talk respectfully to them they usually let you off with a warning.
