Heh, makes sense to me.  But what about going from a 17 mpg vehicle to a 100 mpg vehicle? Grin

This is just the info I need to convince the wifey that we need the cai/exhaust.  It's imperative for our budget to have these things Wink

heh, I was just talking to my wife about getting an exhaust and I mentioned this chart.  My wife had to see it before she'd believe it.  She might just agree to it too.

This doesn't sound intuitive at all until you think about it.  In terms of %s 15-18 is a lot smaller but in terms of gallons used it's a much larger number.  Thinking about this is like plugging an extension cord into itself.

I wonder how this works on your budget when you throw e85 into the mix.

Probably about the same considering most people get way worse mileage on E85, so the lower cost of E85 doesn't make it any better because of the lower mileage.

While this might be true, it's still a fact that at 18 mpg you're using well over 1k gallons of gas and at 100 mpg you're using less than 200 gallons.  Graphs like this just confuse dumb people into thinking that they'll save money by getting a truck instead of a sensible car.

I don't think dumb people get confused by stuff like this, I think they just want a truck more than they want a small car is all.

hehe, you're one of those people that sarcastically answer the 'how do I save gas' question with a 'put it on a flatbed truck' kind of answer aren't you Grin

Those people just upset me most of the time.  When I ask a question I'd like people to take me seriously.

No crap, some of the other dodge forums just give me crap about buying a truck and wanting good mileage.  Ok, I'm not expecting to get 40 mpg in my truck.  I bought it because I wanted to get a camper and try the whole camping thing.  But it would be nice to get a few more mpg throughout the life of the truck for me.  If I can do that by spending a hundred dollars here or there I gladly would.  But most of the time they just tell me to go out and get a geo metro.
