That's a good lookin jeep.

Darn right it is.  I'd drive one of those in a heartbeat.  I'd have to buy a slicker and store it somewhere though Grin

That jeep wouldn't pass highway safety inspections.  They'd put a top on it first so no need to worry about the slicker.

Yeah but this thing hasn't gone through the crash tests and would likely fail them.  Adding all the safety equipment to the vehicle would probaly drop the mpg to under 100 but it would still be a huge improvement.  Plus, every jeep wrangler owner needs a roll cage where they go because the possibility of their vehicle flipping is always there.

Roll cage or not I like that jeep and I hope it'll be available in the next few years.  It's really a pie in the sky wish but a guy can dream right?

Market pressures may make it a reality, but I wouldn't get your hopes up.  It would take at least 5 years for chrysler to make something like that go down the assembly line.  Probably longer since they'd really want to test the drivetrain to make sure there's no issues with the diesel or electric engines.

5 years is a long time to bring a car to market, they got the challenger up and running just 3 years later.  I think 5 would be enough.

Yeah but this is a new drivetrain and they'd need to test it a lot.  5 years wouldn't satisfy enough VPs to make it to market.

I agree, I'd rather wait an extra few years and know that the product is going to be solid instead of possibly having lots of little issues.
