Nice, the guy must've spend a bit of $$ getting that all done.  If he was able to retain the turbo he'll be pretty fast.

How did they fit the engine into a 1/2 ton?  I didn't think the 1/2 ton could fit a cummins, that's still a 5.9L right?

I'm not sure about the exact size of the engine but the engine bay for the 1/2 ton is the same size as the heavy duties so the engine would fit just fine.  The mounting is probably the hard part, the brackets wouldn't be even close to the same so he'd have to get some fabbed up to make it fit.

I thought the 1/2 ton had an ifs and that wouldn't allow the cummins to fit since the cummins is so tall.

Holy cow nice.  I think I'm gonna try that in this truck instead of trading it in.  My neighbor knows how to weld and I can usually get lots of different car/truck parts at my local auction.  I might not be retiring this truck in 10 years, it might just last me another 10 with a different engine in it.

that truck must have some balls to it.  I bet he's quicker than the hemi off the line even though his engine is 10 years older.

The heavy duties 4x2 have an IFS as well.  It's probably a little more robust than the ifs for the 1500 but it's probably not any bigger.

When I first read that I was skeptical.  I thought Dodge was the last hold out for solid front axle in all HD trucks.  But I just went by the dealer today and they had a 4x2 in stock and it did have an IFS.  I was a little sad but I understand that they did that so the ride would be better.  Would've been cheaper to just make all of em have a solid front axle.

Wow, a lot of work went into that.  He gets a fast truck that gets great mpg (for a truck) and can run biodiesel now.  Good for him.  I think I've seen a few diesel jeeps on the internet before too, those would be some badass jeeps with all that low end grunt.
