Funny stuff Grin  That must be a hill because a lot of people went sliding sideways down the street.  Except that person that just kept driving and driving, that was hilarious.

wtf are any of those people thinking.  If the streets are that slick don't go on them, and if you do at least try to recover from the slide...

Sometimes people can't avoid going out.  They need to get their nails done or they absolutely have to buy that new dress, don't need to be an ass Grin

I have to say that I think I'd have just as good traction in the snow as those people did.  It seems like they had no trouble getting moving which is all that 4x4 does for you, the rest is inertia.

I've been in that situation.  I'll admit it was dumb but when there's snow on the ground you can't tell (and generally don't expect) if there's ice or pavement underneath it.  When I got to a down slope of a hill I took the D just over it at about 5 mph and coasted down.  When I got to the bottom it was ice, luckily even though the lights had changed the drivers for cross traffic saw me coming and didn't go.  It was scary.  I hope to never again have to deal with that kind of situation.

In my experience it's harder for the heavier vehicles to get sliding because they have more weight holding the rubber to the ground.

The more weight you have the harder it is to stop it.  That whole inertia thing really does work.  People with trucks often get mean ass off road tires that get way better traction than normal car tires do, that might be where your experience lies.

I'd have to agree with rider on this one.  I've been moving plenty of times on the dirt roads here in my truck and when I hit the mud it takes longer to stop because I don't spring for the expensive tires off road tires.  My wifes car stops a lot sooner.

Tires aren't that expensive.  Besides, they're one of the most important safety features of your vehicle, spend the extra cash.
