Voters have said yes to a zoning ordinance that would result in construction of the nation’s newest oil refinery in over 30 years.

The highly contentious issue has pitted neighbor against neighbor in Union County, SD for months after Hyperion Energy first applied for a zoning permit to build the refinery.

Elk Grove, SD city officials, quoted in the Sioux City Journal, were elated over the vote, saying it could bring thousands of new jobs and millions of dollars into the farming community.

Good, we haven't invested much into our infrastructure for oil in a long time.  Hopefully we can get a few more to pop up around the country.

Darn right.  We're trying anyways.  The township has approved it, but the company still needs to get approval from the state and federal govs.  The damn sociopathic greenies are going to do everything they can to delay it though Sad

Good fer them.  I hear that montana wants to build one as well.  Seems kinda weird that canada wouldn't just build one of their own instead of letting us do it.  No need to ship the oil so far to get refined then.
