Looks like anyone in the drivers side of the vehicle would've been hurt pretty bad.  Hope everyone came out of that alive.

I found an article on it, the man and his son were able to get out of the ram unhurt.  The canopy only took out about a foot of the truck.

I've seen this before like 10 times on other websites.  This video seems to be really popular right now.  Good to know that no one got hurt.

Here is the article and some pics:

At approximately 3 PM, Tuesday, July 2, a 2008 Dodge Ram 2500, pulling a new travel trailer, hit the corner of the Texas State Bank Drive-In on Tenaha Street, causing the complete awning to come to the ground. Luckily, the driver of the Dodge, Mickey Miller, of Garrison and his 10 year old son were able to exit their vehicle uninjured.

According to Miller he was circling the bank to park on the other side when the corner of his travel trailer caught the corner of the bank awning. Next thing he heard was a rumble as the awning started falling against his driver's side door. Somehow he was able to unbuckle the seat beat and exit the other side of his truck as it was falling.

Wow he missed that by quite a bit.  I've had my camper close to some overhead canopies and I get nervous as hell and look out the window constantly to see if i'm going to hit it.  I also would never drive as fast as he did around the canopy.  Usually I try to just avoid the thing all together.

Those pics are brutal.  I'd hate to ever be in that situation.  I always pay extra attention to my driving when I'm towing something or have something in the bed.

I peed my pants a little bit when I saw that thing collapse on the truck.  The video makes it look a lot worse than the pics show.  If that guy hadn't been unbuckled he could've lost a limb or something.  That sucks, and that's the reason I don't like towing things that are tall, I've only done it once but every time I go under a bridge I get a little queezy.
