Hey guys and gals, I know that a lot of us are hit pretty hard by the high gas prices and we want to do something about it.  I decided to make a list of every Mopar currently made that can run on E85 so that at least some of us can get some relief at the pump.

Dodge:

Avenger:
2.7L V6 engine - 189 HP/191 ft lbs torque

Grand Caravan:
3.3L V6 engine - 175 HP/205 ft lbs torque

Dakota:
4.7L V8 engine - 302 HP/329 ft lbs torque

Durango:
4.7L V8 engine - 303 HP/330 ft lbs torque

Ram:
4.7L V8 engine - 310 HP/330 ft lbs torque

Jeep:

Commander:
4.7L V8 engine - 305 HP/334 ft lbs torque

Grand Cherokee:
4.7L V8 engine - 305 HP/334 ft lbs torque

Chrysler:

Aspen:
4.7L V8 engine - 303 HP/330 ft lbs torque

Seabring:
2.7L V6 engine - 189 HP/191 ft lbs torque

Town and Country:
3.3L V6 engine - 175 HP/205 ft lbs torque

In addition to those here's my wish list:

LX cars, the Chrysler 300, Dodge Challenger, and Dodge Charger all have a 2.7L V6 available.  I don't know what the difference is between the E85 2.7L and the non E85 2.7L but I would think it's cheaper to just make one version - give the E85 version to each of these cars.

Also with the LX cars, they all have the big 6.1L V8, the 5.7L V8, and smaller V6s - give them the E85 4.7L engine.

That way we'd have two choices for engines in a nice car, one for mileage and one for performance running E85.

It looks like there's not a single 4 cylinder engine in that mix.  I wonder how hard it is to make an engine E85 compatible.  Some of us jeep guys would like to get an E85 engine to see if the higher octane would help out on the trails.

Isn't there less energy in E85 vs regular gas???  I'd think it would be worse on the trails than regular.

There's less energy so you'd use more gas per mile, but it's higher octane so you get a bit more power per gallon - if that makes any sense.

I don't think it would make a difference on the trails.  If you want to see a difference get some different gears and see how much more power you get on the low end.  A buddy of mine did and it made a big impact.

That's easy Grin  In the US it's the Ram 2500 CTD, Ram 3500 CTD and the Grand Cherokee with the 3.0 CRD.  In the rest of the world it's every damn car...

Hopefully that list will turn into the lx cars in the future.

Hopefully the list of vehicles that can run biofuels in the future will include all of them.  There's no reason to not offer a good diesel in all the vehicles that can run biodiesel and there's no reason to run a gas engine these days that can't run E85.

Now that I think about it, I wonder why chrysler doesn't put the 4.7L V8 in the LX cars.  It's an E85 engine, has plenty of horsepower, and would probably do a bit better than the hemi in the same car on mpg.  Running E85 on a 300+ hp engine would be a fun ride Cool
