MSRP doesn't matter much, what about incentives?  No one is going to be paying msrp on the truck anyways.

Incentives probably won't be that great for the first model year.  The newness of the truck will sell it for dodge.  Although if the economy keeps tanking and gas prices don't get any better they'll have to just continue incentives as they are.

No one is buying trucks these days.  In fact if you look for used chargers you won't find as many as their used to be.  I went to look at an 08 challenger and the sales guy said that my charger would get a couple more grand today than last year.  I asked him why and he said it was because everyone was trading their trucks for chargers.  It seems that they want to be fast but they also want better mpgs.

I doubt people are trading in their trucks to buy chargers.  Why not just wait another year to get a challenger?  Most people would lose 5-10 grand on a truck trade in, they're not going to do that just to save 30 bucks at the pump.

I've talked to a couple of the city guys at our local bar that said they traded their ram in for something else and took the hit because they couldn't pay the price at the pump.  I can't trade mine, but I also don't owe much on it either.  I try to pay 80% of the vehicle off in the first year I own it so I don't have to worry about if I hit a tree or something.

So we get more truck for less money.  I'm glad my decision to by an old used one is paying off.  I already have about 1/2 of what I need saved to buy a brand new slt, so I think I'll be getting a new truck here in a couple years Cool

Same here, I intentionally bought an older truck for now because I needed one.  I could have afforded a new hemi but I want a new ctd so I'm saving up for that instead.  I hope the new generation of HD trucks look as mean as the current.

Since my truck is already paid for all I gotta do is wait for the nitro to be paid off in a couple years.  Hopefully by then the incentives will be back and I'll be in a new 1/2 ton dodge Grin

Yeah, that's what I'm waiting for too.  I don't know if I'll buy a new one or a used one.  But either way incentives drive down the price of both.

The people doing this aren't thinking rationally for the most part.  Plus they might need 4 doors, plus they might not want to buy a brand new vehicle.  Yes they lose 10 grand on the truck when they trade it in, but they only increase their monthly payment by 50$ or whatever to get a used charger.  In return their pain at the pump is a few $s less.  I don't think it evens out for most of them but the pain at the pump is what they need to address.

I'd have to agree with HB here.  Most vehicle purchases aren't rational.  People aren't rational in general, if they were dealers wouldn't keep trying to make the vehicle sound like it's the last one on the lot even though you can see 3 others just sitting there.  If they keep saying something enough you'll buy it.  So they rob from paul to pay peter, but they feel better about their household budget for some reason.

I hope the new Durangos are priced cheaper too with a bit better interior.  I'll be ready to buy a new one when the changeover happens.

Last time I was at a dealership they told me 2010 was the last year for the durangos.  The guy told me that the Nitro will become the defacto suv in the line up.  The durangos are too big and don't sell well enough to keep producing them.

The nitro is probably going to be killed so I don't see how dodge will kill the durango.  Maybe they'll make it smaller but they won't kill it.
