Pretty good comparison of the new 6.7L vs the old 5.9L

Overall they pretty much say it's a tie but I think everyone knows that if two products are equal then the simpler product wins, advantage 5.9  Cool

The new 6.7 is pretty awesome but I agree, I still prefer my 5.9 since it's a simpler design.

I was surprised that the 5.9 had more HP/torque than the 6.7.  The new emissions must be a bitch.  I like my trucks simple, makes them easier to fix and tougher to break.

Either way it's a ctd, can't go wrong there.

I'd be pretty interested in a comparison of the new hemi to the new v8 ctd.  If the v8 ctd can get good enough mpg on the road then it would be an easy sell for me.  I'll be needing another truck in 3-4 years because my work beats them up and I don't have a good enough reason to bite the ctd bullet (it's 10k more for that engine).  But if the new v8 ctd isn't much more expensive and can haul as much as the hemi and has better mpg then it looks like i'd be a ctd guy Cool

I doubt the V8 ctd will get enough better mileage to justify it's price tag especially considering that diesel costs an extra 80 cents in my area.  Don't know about yours, but it's expensive.

It might not get enough mpg to offset the extra cost of the engine + fuel for a while.  But you gotta remember that the ctd will last a lot longer than normal gas engines.  Cummins know what they're doing.
