Quote
I believe that, all things being equal, Americans will buy American. It just has to be as good as the competition; it doesn’t have to be better. The classic example is Harley-Davidson. Throughout the ’70s, the motorcycle maker had huge quality-control problems. Then Harley-Davidson said, “Look, let’s take our time. Let’s build fewer bikes. Let’s build them properly, so they don’t leak oil and they’ll run forever.” Harley-Davidson won back the market share it had lost, and it continues to dominate today. Even though the bikes might not be technically superior, they’re bulletproof and they’re American. People will buy American if given the chance.

The guy is pretty much right.

Jellybeans, darn right they all look like jellybeans.  Though the line from sin city is a bit better.  They all look like electric razors.

LOL you could say that about most of the luxury 'sports' cars coming out these days.  They all seem to be silver and the grill looks like it could be blades on a razor.

Yeah, one of the reasons I like Dodge and adore my Charger (even though it has an auto and 2 doors...) is that everyone knows what it is as it comes down the road.  There's no mistaking the Charger or the Challenger for any other car.  The rest of them just seem to blend together.

I don't really like his comedy but I have a ton of respect for the guy when it comes to cars.  He's forgotten more about cars than I'll ever know.  It sounds like common sense at this point but what he's saying rings true.  I think most americans would buy american if the cars were all equal.  So the automakers just need to focus on cheap/quality/reliable cars and they'll gain their marketshare back.

Leno is funnier than letterman on a nightly basis.  Letterman just does whatever weird thing he can think of.  Plus letterman doesn't have a huge collection of rare cars.

I agree, leno isn't that funny but if you have to choose between him and letterman i choose leno.  I also think he's exactly right on cars too.  We need better built vehicles.  My wrangler is a solid brick, I don't think I could wreck it if I tried, but that's because it's built well.  Chrysler needs to do that with the rest of their autos too now.
