Knowing is half the battle

I hope this truck is good, I hope it helps to turn around chrysler's image of being a manufacturer of poor quality.  But I also hope that this new truck is so damn expensive that only the people that really need a truck can buy it.

I think people need to be able to get what they want, but if the truck is too expensive than GM and Ford will undercut Dodge easily.  I don't think the truck will too expensive for most people.

I don't really understand why there are so many negative reviews on the current Ram.  So it doesn't ride like a f*cking lexus, go buy a lexus if that's what you want.  I bought my truck because it's huge, looks good, and does what I need it to.  The huge backseat is a big plus.  I'm kinda sad that they won't make the mega anymore after next year.  This is probably the best truck I'll ever own.

I think the current Ram is nice, but the people reviewing it are comparing it to things like the titan/tundra/ridgeline and of course the f150/silverado.  While the Ram is certainly capable it is no where near as nice when it comes to the ride and interior.  I don't really care about those things and I like my Ram a lot, but it certainly does lack in those areas.

But there's no real good reason to compare all the major trucks to something like the ridgeline, it's not a truck.  The Titan is barely a truck, and the tundra is just a knock off of the Ram.  They bash the ram based on the interior, not based on what a truck should be used for.

That's not the case for most journalists.  These guys live in the suburbs in their 2 story house with their 2 or 3 stall garage.  They have no real need for a truck.  So when they review a truck they review it like they would a car.  Now they might think they're reviewing it like it's a truck but they don't really have any idea.  Most of these guys won't have the ability to put a truck through it's paces.  So they harp on the interior because that's what they know.  On some level they're right too.  The interior of trucks is dismal historically and it wouldn't be an issue if the playing field was level.  But it's not, some companies put more money into the interiors so now Dodge is lagging behind.  Again I don't really care, but that's just the way it is.

You guys all talk like the journalists are biased.  Well they're biased for a reason.  The US automakers haven't been producing good cars historically.  They might be now but it'll take a long time to overcome those biases.

The reason they're biased might be that.  But the reasons they give for dumping all over a new model are insane.  If they would just stick to sane comparisons it would be fine.  But they have to go out of their way to produce such a horrible review that they can't stay sane.
