So I just read through the new info on the 2010 caliber and it says that the EU gets a diesel option.  It doesn't say anything about mpgs but my guess is that it's close to double what I get with my gasser.  I want to know why the US doesn't get the diesel version?  I thought Chrysler wanted to be more green, this seems like a good and cheap way to do it.

I don't mind that I'm slow, my car gets good MPGs in return for being slow, but it would be nice to squeeze a few more miles per gallon out of this car.

The standards in the EU for diesel fuel are different than they are in the states.  Emissions are different too I think.  Our stuff favors gas and theirs I don't think favors either (which means that diesel wins because it gets better mpg).  The engine would have to be different.
