I'm lookin at a couple rams from to different dealers in my area.  Both are extended cabs.  One is a 2003 with 73k miles on it.  It looks to be in good shape and has rather new tires, leather in it and pretty much all of the options with a hemi.  They want 18k for it.

The other is a 2005 with 45k miles on it, has the 4.7 engine.  Looks clean but isn't as nice on the inside as the 2003.  There are a lot of options that are missing on this one, but it does have fewer miles on it.  Dealer want 16k for this one.

The second ram would be the right price if it had a hemi (imo).  It depends on where you live.  I joined here because of squats post on buying a new vehicle over on the mopar forum part of the site.  He seems to know what he's talking about.  Have you checked it out?

KBB, edmunds, and Nada are all good places to go for used vehicle pricing.  I would start at independent sale value for the truck and work from there.  Those prices seem a bit high.  Keep looking on carsoup and autotrader (and your local paper) for prices.  Most importantly keep it within your budget.

Call around to dealers that aren't necessarily local.  Even if you dont want to go there you can use their prices against the dealers near you.

Like everyone here has said, you need to gather as much info as possible before buying your new (to you) vehicle.  More information can save you thousands.  Call around and get prices, if they don't want to deal tell them thats fine because there are other dealers around that will.  Since your talking about a used ram there is potential to find one at every brand of dealership, not just chrysler dealers.

Salesmen hate information.  They lines like 'well I don't know what the other vehicle has on it so it's hard to make a comparison' or 'well I dont know what kind of warrenty the other place would give with their used vehicle' blah blah blah.  Print out the options and get the stickers of other used rams and then go to the dealer.  I bought my ram used with 25k miles on it for 16k.  There's no reason to pay more to the stealership if you dont have to.

You'll be happy with the ram no matter what you decide to do with it.  Pull the trigger, join the club Cool
